Izzi Q&A

A lot of people get really confused and fascinated when I tell them that I own a skincare brand, they never expect a highschooler to run her own business! I get so many questions on how I manage school, friends and Luv Ur Skin, that I thought I would answer some of them for you.
How do you juggle school with running a company?
Whilst it can be exhausting running Luv Ur Skin at the same time as being a high school student, I am incredibly lucky and thankful that I have such a supportive group of people surrounding me. My family and friends have been a vital part of my success; they help me put things into perspective and are the reason for my drive. I truly believe that if you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life. Luv Ur Skin is what I am passionate about, without passion I would not be so dedicated to putting my all into everything I do.
What is your best beauty advice?
I sound like a broken record, but it is super important to moisturise your face morning and night. Whilst you may think that moisturising will clog your pores and promote breakouts, it will in fact help level out oil production and reduce the likelihood of breakouts. Make sure you use a moisturiser that is right for your skin type; my Luv Ur Skin Face Moisturiser is great for everyone, including those with sensitive skin. Also, don’t forget to hydrate your skin from within by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. I try to drink eight glasses every day, which will help flush out toxins and keep your body’s organs in tiptop shape!
I want to start wearing makeup, but don’t know where to start. Any tips?
When I started wearing makeup I started off small by using a lightweight tinted moisturiser, which will help even out skin tone without feeling too heavy. If eyes are the windows to your soul, then eyebrows must be the frames to your face; so I like to use an eyebrow gel or clear mascara to keep them in place and make sure I have no pesky stray hairs sticking in the wrong direction. If you want to wear mascara either try clear mascara or something not super dramatic, like a black-brown colour. If your school is strict on makeup try using a lip balm to keep your lips super soft; I love my Berrilicious Lip Balm, which nourishes my lips and leaves them looking glossy.
What do you do in your spare time?
When I am not at school or doing work for Luv Ur Skin, you can often find me playing music or singing. I enjoy being creative, and music has become an outlet for me to express myself. Like any other girl, I also love to hang out with friends and family, go shopping and play sport!
How do you de-stress?
When I need to clear my head, I find the best thing to do is find a relaxing spot in the house and read my book. I love reading any John Green novel, because he knows how to write heartfelt stories.
I’m starting at a new school and worried I won’t fit in. Do you have any advice for making new friends?
Be yourself! It may sound like a cliché, but there is no point in trying to make people like you by acting like someone else. You will be happier in the long run and will attract people with similar interests to your own.
What is your most cringe-worthy skincare mistake?
After every performance on stage, I would go home to a face full of makeup that I didn't know how to take off. So I would use baby wipes, because I thought it was good for my skin. But it wasn’t effective in taking off my makeup, so my face was not actually cleaned at all! Since I developed Luv Ur Skin, I noticed fewer breakouts on my face because I was properly cleansing my skin from all the stage makeup. I quickly learned that you can’t use anything on your skin, you need to think more carefully about what you put on it.
