Izzi Dymalovski is a 15-year-old entrepreneur who is passionate about natural products. She created the skincare brand Luv Ur Skin at the age of eight, when she first began developing natural formulas with an expert team of chemists; she needed something to help remove make-up after dance concerts. Since then, Luv Ur Skin has since become beloved on the Australian market, giving young girls the chance to keep their skin clean and healthy using natural, cruelty-free and Australian-made products.  

Here are some of the lessons shared by this ambitious teen entrepreneur.  

1. Persistence in your business in times of challenges

  Persistence is key for any entrepreneur to succeed; the ability to move forward and keep going, especially when things are difficult and challenging. Every entrepreneur is bound to make mistakes in business, some big or small, however your persistence to keep going during these times and not give up on your business is vital. I’ve been taught that even when things go wrong, try to use them as a lesson, so as not to repeat the same mistakes again.  

2. Resilience  

You not only have to Luv Ur Skin, but develop a tough one! I’m still learning that business is not personal, which is hard when you create something and not everyone sees your vision or understands it. Sometimes I’ve have a great idea and my team is onboard and other times not so much, but I always know they have my best interests in mind, so I’ve learnt to appreciate their honesty and not take it so personally. It’s also been a challenge being a kid in the adult world of business, so I’m definitely becoming more resilient every day. 

3. Dedication to hard work 

I’ve always worked really hard at school and even with my hobbies, like singing and dancing, so I didn’t really find this challenging as I’ve always been told that if you’re going to do something, do it properly or don’t do it at all, so this is how I approach most things and this means hard work. Not everything comes easy to everyone, but if you really want something, you just need to apply yourself and never be afraid to ask for help if you need it.  

4. Time management  

I get asked all the time how I juggle everything with school, the business, friends and my hobbies. I guess the busier I get, the more I realise I need to be organised and don’t have time to waste. I try not to procrastinate and get the things I don’t necessarily enjoy done quickly, otherwise it distracts me from everything else. I sometimes sit down with my mum and go through what I have on for the week and make sure we schedule in time to get everything done… she also makes sure to fix in free time, otherwise I sometimes forget to stop. It’s not easy and it doesn’t always work, but I try.  

5. Passion for your industry  

Finally, it helps that I love what I do. Someone once told me that if you’re passionate about what you do, all the hard work, long hours and challenges won’t seem as difficult and it won’t be as hard. It’s true. I’m fortunate that because I’m still at school and have a lot of support, I don’t have the same pressure as adults do to succeed, so I can enjoy it more and do what I love… maybe that’s the main thing people can take from my experience, do something you’re passionate about and if you believe in what you’re doing, others will as well.
